Aerangis Orchids

Aerangis Orchids
Aerangis is a genus of epiphytic orchids that are native to tropical and subtropical regions of Africa, Madagascar, and nearby islands. These orchids are commonly known as African miniatures because of their small size and compact growth habit. Aerangis orchids have thick, fleshy roots that attach to tree branches or rocks. They have long, slender leaves that grow in pairs, and small, fragrant flowers that grow in clusters. The flowers are usually white, although some species have yellow or green petals. Aerangis orchids are popular with orchid enthusiasts because of their delicate beauty and ease of cultivation. They are typically grown in a well-draining mix of coarse bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite, and they prefer bright, indirect light and high humidity. Some of the most popular Aerangis orchids include Aerangis citrata, Aerangis distincta, Aerangis fastuosa, and Aerangis luteo-alba. These orchids can be found in a range of sizes, with some species growing up to six inches in height and others reaching only two inches. Despite their small size, aerangis orchids can produce multiple blooms per spike, making them a beautiful addition to any orchid collection.
