How should fertilization be used for a Centipede Grass?
Centipede grass does not require heavy fertilization like other types of grass. It has a low to moderate nutrient requirement and is susceptible to fertilizer burn. It is recommended to fertilize Centipede grass twice a year: once in the spring and once in the fall. Use a high-quality slow-release fertilizer with a balanced N-P-K ratio such as 15-0-15 or 16-4-8. Apply the fertilizer at a rate of 1 lb of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft in the spring and 1/2 lb of nitrogen per 1000 sq ft in the fall. Avoid applying fertilizer during hot and dry weather or when the grass is stressed. It is also important to water the grass thoroughly after fertilization to prevent burn and ensure the nutrients are absorbed by the roots.
